The GHS and GMS bands participated in the annual PSU Homecoming marching band competition on Oct. 24 in Pittsburg.
The high school band received a I rating, the highest possible award in the competition while the middle school band received a II rating, along with the Best In Class award.
In response to these achievements, director Willey Abati said, “I was very pleased with the performance of both bands in the PSU Homecoming Parade. Both have worked very hard to get better this year, and obviously they have accomplished that. I have really enjoyed working with them.”
This year the 6th grade, middle school, and high school bands will join together for a Christmas program Nov. 30 beginning at 6:30 p.m. The choral portion of the program will be first, with band performances beginning around 7:15 p.m.
The Girard Christmas Parade will be held Thursday, Dec. 3, and both bands will march in the parade.
