Girard senior Hadyn Herlocker was inducted into the 1,000 Point Club after the Girard-Erie game in Fredonia Monday, Jan. 14.

Going into the game, Ms. Herlocker had 995 points. She scored her 1,000th point within the first two minutes of the first quarter and led Girard to a 51-34 victory over Erie, scoring 20 points.

For her accomplishment she was given the winning game ball signed by the varsity basketball team members.

Regarding her recent achievement, Ms. Herlocker’s father and Girard High School girls basketball head coach Brad Herlocker said, “Hadyn has worked very hard to reach this goal from a very young age. To me, this is a team and program accomplishment more than an individual award. Hadyn has been lucky from her freshman year through this year to play with some great players on some great teams. Players do not reach this level without good teammates.”

Ms. Herlocker is one of 14 GHS athletes to be inducted into the 1,000 Point Club.

Other members include Mike Taylor (1973), Jay Leigh (1985), Brenda Rose (1986), Gabe Evans (1998), Amanda Davied (1999), Morgan High (2000), Nikki Pierce (2003), Seth Newton (2004), Marissa Poppe (2006), Drew Cook (2007), Darian Kelly (2009), Tanner Poppe (2009), and Carly Twarog (2010).

Ms. Herlocker said, “It is really an honor to be in such a select group of people. I could not have reached this milestone without my past and present teammates.”

Like Amanda Davied, Nikki Pierce and Marissa Poppe, Ms. Herlocker will continue her basketball career at Pittsburg State University on an athletic scholarship.
