Excuse me, Will Gardner, where did you think you were going?

Josh Charles, who plays Lockhart Gardner partner and the (former) apple of Alicia's wandering eye on The Good Wife, has signed a new deal with CBS, TVLine reports.

The news is surprising to many only because normally actors sign six or seven-year deals at the start of the series. In a unique situation, Charles' deal was set to expire at the end of Season 4. His new contract has only been extended by one year.

Fall 2013 TV Scorecard: Which shows are returning? Which aren't?

Not only is this good news for #TeamWill fans, but it seems like a good sign for the acclaimed legal drama's renewal status. CBS has yet to green-light a Season 5, but why would the network be concerned about signing Charles to a new contract if there weren't a chance it was coming back?

So are you glad Charles is coming back? Do you think The Good Wife could survive without the "bad boy of law"? The Good Wife airs Sundays at 9/8c on CBS.
