Pitt State and UNO will play a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday and a Noon twin bill Sunday.
The Gorillas are 9-15 overall and 6-4 in the MIAA. Pitt State is tied for fourth in the MIAA standings with Washburn University. The Gorillas posted a 3-1 record against Truman State University in MIAA play last weekend. The Mavs are 20-9 overall, 10-4 in the MIAA and ranked No. 23 in the Collegiate Baseball/ ABCA Top 30 poll. Offensively, the Gorillas are led by senior outfielders Austin Kirkwood and Taylor House. Kirkwood is hitting a team-leading .411 with four HRs and 21 RBIs, while House is batting .337 with four HRs and a team-best 27 RBIs. Junior shortstop Rhett Rigby also is hitting .321 with a team-leading six HRs, including an MIAA record four round-trippers he hit in a 23-20 win over Truman on Mar. 22.
On the mound, senior right-hander Tim Brown leads the PSU staff with a 5-1 record and a 4.50 ERA. He’s allowed just five walks and fanned 42 batters in 40.0 innings on the season. Sophomore RHP Trent Kavanagh (2-2, 5.40 ERA) also is coming off a combined five-hit shutout in his last outing, while sophomore RHP Anthony Powell (1-2, 2 Sv) registered a pair of saves last weekend.
