Jacob “Jack” I. Amershek, 65, of McCune, KS. passed away at 10:00 p.m., Thursday, December 25, 2008, at his residence.

Jacob “Jack” I. Amershek, 65, of McCune, KS. passed away at 10:00 p.m., Thursday, December 25, 2008, at his residence.
He was born May 18, 1943, at Croweburg, KS. the son of Jack and Ernesta (Bracelli) Amershek.  He attended McCune Schools, Pittsburg State University and graduated from Kansas State University with an Engineering Degree. Mr. Amershek had been a resident of the area most all of his life.
Mr. Amershek worked for the Bendix Corp. in Kansas City, the Kansas Dept. of Health and Environment Surface Mining Section, and the Kansas Department of Transportation for 18 years, as an engineer. He also helped on the family farm.
Mr. Amershek is survived by three brothers, Frank Amershek, Richard Amershek, and Ernest Amershek all of McCune, and seven nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Mary.
Services for Mr. Amershek will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 29, 2008, at the Brenner Mortuary with Father Robert McElwee conducting the service.  Burial will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Frontenac, KS.  A parish rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends following the rosary until 8:00 p.m.  The family suggests memorials to the Kansas State University School of Engineering Scholarship Fund.  These may be left at or mailed to Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS. 66762.
