Both St. Mary’s-Colgan and Northeast track and field teams will be sending numerous student-athletes to the Class 2A State Track and Field Championships next weekend in Wichita.

Both St. Mary’s-Colgan and Northeast track and field teams will be sending numerous student-athletes to the Class 2A State Track and Field Championships next weekend in Wichita.
The Panthers had 13 qualify while the Vikings placed five at Friday night’s Class 2A regional championships in Pleasanton.
Austin Riggs won regional championships in the 100 (11.04 seconds), 200 (23.21 seconds) and the 400 (49.94 seconds). He was also part of the 4x100 relay along with Kyle Harmon, Chas Smith and Nevin Jones, that won the race in 44.44 seconds.
Northeast’s Jeremy Sullins won the boys long jump with a winning leap of 19 feet, 8.25 inches and also finished second in the triple jump in 40-8.75.
For Colgan, their defending champion 4x800 relay team of Hillary Dickey, Chelsea Duncan, Faith Miller and Jamie Naylor finished second
at Pleasanton with a time of 10 minutes, 46.52 seconds. Marantha Academy edged out the Panthers in 10:33.57.
But, the girls’ 4x400 squad of Dickey, Duncan, Miller and Emmalia White won their event in 4:21.20.
Dickey captured the regional championship in the 400 (1:01.59) and the 200 (27.42 seconds) and Miller also qualified after placing third in the 800 (2:33.04) and fourth in the 100 (13.53 seconds).
Emily Patterson finished third in the 300 hurdles with a time of 54.57 and fourth in the high jump in 4 feet, 6 inches.
White came back and finished second in the pole vault in 9-0.
Travis Dickerson placed second in the javelin for the Vikings with a throw of 154-6 and Austin Bogina placed third in the 3,200 with a time of 10:38.40.
Smith finished second, behind Riggs, in the 100 in 11.25 seconds and Jones placed fourth in the 800 in 2:06.71.
The Panther 4x800 boys relay team of Jones, Chris Bishop, Kyle Bache and Andy Farmer placed fourth with a time of 8:56.32 and the 4x400 squad of Harmon, Jones, Smith and Farmer was also fourth in 3:37.19.
For Northeast, Shelby Lehman was a double-qualifier for the state meet after she placed fourth in the 400 with a time of 1:03.11 and second in the 800 in 2:30.75. Khristen Dwyer also qualified after she placed third in the triple jump with a distance of 29-4.5.
