Police have arrested a 17-year-old in the stabbing deaths of two teens in the southwest Missouri town of Nevada.

Police have arrested a 17-year-old in the stabbing deaths of two teens in the southwest Missouri town of Nevada.


Police Chief Gary Herstein said an 18-year-old woman and a 14-year-old girl were stabbed in a home around 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Both were taken by helicopter to hospitals in Joplin, where they were pronounced dead.


The 17-year-old boy was arrested shortly afterward.


The identities of the victims and the suspect have not been released.


Herstein says his office is still investigating. The case has not yet been turned over to prosecutors for possible charges.


Nevada is about 95 miles south of Kansas City.
