McWilliams birthday
ORONOGO, Mo. — Myron McWilliams, rural Oronogo, Mo., will celebrate his 90th birthday with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. at Medoc Church.
The church is located north of Joplin, Mo., north on Highway 43 to M Highway, then west two miles to County Road 260. Signs will be posted.
McWilliams was born May 22, 1919, in Hannon, Mo., and graduated from Jasper, Mo., High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Owner and operator of Notta Lotta Acres, he was an avid gardener and sold produce at area farmer’s markets.
All family and friends are invited to attend the birthday celebration. The family requests no gifts, but cards would be appreciated.

Legion dance
Pittsburg American Legion Post 64 will host a dance, open to the public, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the post home, 2815 N. Joplin. Music will be provided by Jim Staton.
Lounge will open at 1 p.m.

Monday, May 25

Library closed
Pittsburg Public Library will be closed through Monday for Memorial Day weekend.
The library will resume regular hours on Tuesday. Library hours are from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
