Arbor Day

Pittsburg Parks and Recreation Department will observe Arbor Day by dedicating a tree at Trail Head Park, 11th and Broadway, at 11 a.m.

Pittsburg Parks and Recreation Department will observe Arbor Day by dedicating a tree at Trail Head Park, 11th and Broadway, at 11 a.m.
The City of Pittsburg has been a member of Tree City USA for eight years. Anyone needing additional information may contact the Parks and Recreation office at 231-8310.

Senior Citizens Club
Pittsburg Senior Citizens Club will meet at 1 p.m. at Lincoln Center for a business session and bingo.
A special Tai Chi demonstration will be presented at 12:15 p.m. as an introduction to World Tai Chi Day. This will be open free for club members to attend and get an introduction and short demonstration on the Chinese art form of Tai Chi.

Daddy’s Girl fundraiser
JOPLIN — Daddy’s Girl Memorial Fund will present the Ben Miller Band from 9 p.m. to midnight at Kitchen Pass, Joplin.
Doors will open at 7 p.m., with a minimum $7 donation for cover charge. Chances on door prizes  will be available for $2.
Proceeds will benefit Daddy’s Girl/Love for Lennon Mara Sheppard, infant daughter of the late Cory Sheppard and Andrea (Kiser) Clark. A local artist and tattooist, Sheppard was killed Aug. 17, 2012, while riding his motorcycle home from  work.

Senior exercise
Girard Medical Center will host a free senior exercise class at 8:30 a.m. at the Homer Cole Community Center. Anyone needing additional information may call the center at 231-9773.

Legion bingo
Pittsburg American Legion Post 64 will sponsor bingo, open to the public, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the post home, 2815 N. Joplin.
Doors will open at 5 p.m. Early bird game starts at 6:20 p.m.  This is a non-smoking event.
