  • Allen G. Bruenjes, 77 of Frontenac died at 4:58 p.m. Wednesday June 19, 2013 at the Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg.

  • Allen G. Bruenjes, 77 of Frontenac died at 4:58 p.m. Wednesday June 19, 2013 at the Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg.
    He was born July 18, 1935 in Girard, KS the son of John F. and Anna M. (Bowinkle) Bruenjes.
    Allen was a graduate of Girard High School and attended Kansas State Teachers College (PSU).  He lived in the Girard area until moving to Frontenac following his High School graduation; he has been a resident of Frontenac since.
    Allen was a Korean War Veteran serving his county in the United State Air Force from 1957 through 1961.
    He married Janis Bartelli-Buzard in 1965, they were later divorced; he then married Carol Burress in 1988 and they were later divorced.
    Allen in his younger years worked for Dickey Clay he then worked for the United States Postal Service in Pittsburg retiring after 23 years of service.
    He was a member of the Blue Lodge, Elks Lodge and the American Legion Post #64 all of Pittsburg.
    Survivors include 2 daughters Yvette Bruenjes-Coomes of Frontenac, Yvonne Bruenjes of Old Hickory, TN; 2 sons Keith Mangile and wife Julie of Drexel, MO, David Mangile of Frontenac; a brother Leroy Bruenjes and wife Nancy of Olathe; 4 Grandchildren-Natalie Coomes, Kacha Hendrix, Kelly and Travis McWhorter.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Evelyn Bailey.
    Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday June 24, 2013 at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Pittsburg.  The Pittsburg American Legion Post #64 will provide flag folding ceremonies at the cemetery.  Friends are requested to meet at the cemetery.  Friends may come by the Friskel Funeral Home in Frontenac from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Sunday to sign the register book or leave a memorial contribution.  The casket will remain closed at all times.  Condolences can be sent to www.friskelfuneralhome.com  Memorial contributions can be made to the Pittsburg American Legion.  Memorials may be brought by or mailed to the Friskel Funeral Home 230 E.
