Rhoda Lynn Smilie, 50 “34 as she would call it,” moved on to her next adventure into the afterlife on May 21, 2009 at 12:23 a.m. She was born February 14, 1959 to Jim and Kelly Dennis, in Fort Leonardwood, MO., where Jim Dennis was stationed in the army.
Rhoda Lynn Smilie, 50 “34 as she would call it,” moved on to her next adventure into the afterlife on May 21, 2009 at 12:23 a.m. She was born February 14, 1959 to Jim and Kelly Dennis, in Fort Leonardwood, MO., where Jim Dennis was stationed in the army. As a child she traveled to Italy and Germany, with her family settling in the Joplin, Mo., area. She then moved to Pittsburgh where she attended Pittsburg State University. She traveled to states such as Florid, California and Montana. For the last five years, settled in Rogers, Arkansas where she was a CNA and personal caregiver. She married Jesse Smilie in 1994 in Cherokee County. She enjoyed rummage sales, cooking, art, music and dancing. Loved children and animals especially her beloved Kia. She was Bette Midlers biggest fan. Rhoda always had a story or a song and could bring a smile to anyones heart. She touched many peoples lives and will be sadly missed by anyone who’s path she might have crossed. She definitely left her signature on this world. Rhoda was preceded in death by her parents Kelly Sherman and Jim Dennis, and her beloved friend Dan Campbell. Surviving to cherish her memory are her two children, Jason Miller of Plano, Texas and Brandelle (Brandi) Smith of Wichita, KAN., along with her three grandchildren, Jace, Jordan, Caitlin Miller, and their mother Courtney Miller of Plato, Texas. She is also survived by her brothers, Scott Dennis of Pineville, Mo., Joe Dennis of Webb City, Mo., Kirk Dennis of Joplin, MO., and her sister Shawne Csonka of Elizabethtown, KY. Numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and longtime friends that became extended family.
