Pittsburg State University head baseball coach Steve Bever has his first pair of prep signees for the 2010 season.
Ryan Bilovesky, from Blue Valley Northwest High School, and Michael Schneider, from Olathe South High School, each have committed to the Pitt State program.
Bilovsky (6-2, 200), a left-handed first baseman, has been a two-year starter at Blue Valley Northwest.
The Overland Park, native has led the Huskies in home runs and triples during his senior season.
“Ryan comes in from a very successful Blue Valley Northwest program,” Bever said. “His size and skills will be a positive addition to the Pitt State baseball program immediately. Ryan has the potential to develop into a big time power hitter before his career is completed. He will have the opportunity to compete for playing time in his first season. Having played at a high level in high school will be an advantage for him at the next level.”
Schneider (6-4, 195), a corner infielder, also brings a potent left-handed bat to the Pitt State program.
The Olathe native has been a two-year starter and a three-year letter winner at Olathe South.
“Mike comes in with immediate college baseball skills,” Bever said. “He will have an opportunity to contribute immediately but ultimately will be a strong player for the Gorillas in years to come. His background in tough 6A competition in the Kansas City area will give the skills and competitive desire it takes to become an outstanding college baseball player. His ability to play both first and third base will be an advantage for him and help our depth immediately.”
The prep duo are the first two players to sign with the Gorillas for the 2010 season.
