  • Crawford County treasurer Joe Grisolano received the Betty J. McBride Outstanding Treasurer of the Year Award for 2012 at the Kansas County Treasurer’s Association conference, held in June at Wichita.
The award is named in honor of McBride, who spent almost 25 years as chief financial officer of Cherokee County before serving as director of motor vehicles for the Kansas Department of Revenue under two governors. Now retired, McBride, a former KCTA president, was at the banquet and helped make the presentation to Grisolano.
Each year KCTA presents the award to a treasurer who has been an active member of the organization for at least four years, is a leader in his or her community, and has shown outstanding professionalism in the operation of his or her county office.
Grisolano was nominated for the award by Crsytal Addis, Labette County treasurer, and was selected by a panel of judges who are not affiliated with the Kansas County Treasurers Association. His name will be added to the list of award winners dating back to 1999 when the award was first created.
Grisolano is currently a member of the KCTA Legislative Committee and is serving as president of the Kansas County Officials Association. He is also a member of the National Association of County Collectors, Treasurers and Finance Officers, and serves on the organization’s audit committee.
He has testified before several committee in the Kansas Legislature in each of the past three legislative sessions concerning pending legislation on behalf of both organizations.
He is a member of the Pittsburg Noon Rotary Club, Pittsburg Elks Lodge 412 and Pittsburg Chapter of the Sons of the American Legion.
Grisolano was first elected Crawford County treasurer in November of 2004.
