  • Frontenac and Girard took care of road business Friday night and set up a showdown for a Class 4A, District 7 title next Thursday in Frontenac.
Girard annihilated Parsons 68-13 (leading 48-7 at halftime) and Frontenac blew out Independence 52-16.
Frontenac went ahead 17-0 after one quarter, scoring on a Devon Keith 1-yard run, a Ross Edge 35-yard interception return and a Brett Macary 25-yard field goal. The Raiders led 24-8 at halftime as Keith and fellow senior Bryan Wade closed out the first-half scoring with a 30-yard TD pass and catch.
Frontenac scored the next 28 points, 21 in the third quarter and seven in the fourth. The points came on a Taylor Johnson 7-yard run, a Jace Burdette 2-yard run, a Keith 30-yard run and a Keaton Bolinger 35-yard run.
Courtlan Hayes scored both of the Bulldogs’ TDs — a 60-yard run in the second and a 6-yard run to close out the scoring in the fourth.
Macary scored 10 points on seven extra points and one field goal. The Raiders (5-3) forced three turnovers and committed only one, continuing a five-game trend and five-game winning streak.
Girard (7-1) enters next week on a seven-game winning streak since its 8-0 loss to Caney Valley in the season opener. The Trojans have already won the Crawford-Neosho-Cherokee League title and now vie for a district title and home playoff game.
