  • The Crawford-Neosho-Cherokee League released its 2012 all-league volleyball selections and state-qualifying teams Frontenac (Class 4A) and Southeast (3A) combined for a total of eight first team, second team and honorable mention picks by the league’s coaches.
The Raiders and the Lancers combined for a 69-15 overall record, .820 winning percentage.
Frontenac senior setter Lindsey Gorham received the lone unanimous first team selection — she led the 35-7 Raiders with 921 assists (10.1 per set). Ryleigh McCartney, a junior, joined Gorham as first team. Paige Badart and Nayna Fields, both seniors, received second team and senior Jennifer Long honorable mention honors.
The Raiders led the CNC with 35 overall wins and led the postseason recognition with five nods.
Southeast (34-8) landed junior Amy Martin on the first team, sophomore Olivia Powell second team and senior Tori Colvin honorable mention.
The Lancers won their third straight 3A substate tournament in Caney (none of Southeast’s three substate titles have been at home — Arma in 2010, Erie in 2011 and Caney in 2012) and won a set out in Salina against Wellsville, their first time winning a set in three state appearances.
At state, Frontenac and Southeast each went 0-3 — both teams lost their final matches on Friday to eventual state champions McPherson (4A) and Hillsboro (3A).
Girard (24-13) had senior Hayden Bauer make first team, junior Audrey Bauer second team and senior Anissa Zagonel honorable mention.
Colgan (22-15) landed two players: senior Abbie O’Brien first team and junior Sydney Beck honorable mention.
