I started my work day early in the morning on Saturday. My assignment was to go to Wilderness Park and photograph zombies. It was Pittsburg State University’s Public Relations and Advertising Department’s inaugural 5k Zombie Run at Wilderness Park. I didn't know much about the concept and at first I thought the runners were going to dress as zombies. Soon though I learned that zombies would be waiting along the trails to ambush runners as they took part in the run. After visiting with a few zombies I learned that they arrived at Pittsburg State University at six that morning to have their makeup applied. I followed a few of these zombies down a trail and up and down hills until they reached their ambush spot. The runners wore flags that represented their brains and the zombies attempted to snatch their brains as they ran by. It was fun event to photograph and the early morning light added to the location, creating a spooky environment. I like several things about the photo of Lexington Peterson as a zombie. It was a cool morning and as she hid next to a tree, scouting for runners, the sun was rising behind her adding highlights to her hair and breath. Her expression is great as well and created an eerie feeling that this was real. It was all in fun and they seemed to have a great time. However, I know if I go to Wilderness Park in the near future I will spend quite a bit of time looking over my shoulder to see if anything is sneaking up on me.
