In a move to try to make SEK Recycling, Inc. property more ‘regional-friendly’ the site in Pittsburg will be hosting one of two statewide collections.

Chuck Delp, with SEK Recycling, Inc., said that they are partnering with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) to host Kansas Clean Sweep, an agricultural waste pesticide collection program, on Nov. 13.

“The state was trying to find someone and they weren’t getting a lot of cooperation,” Delp said.

That’s when SEK Recycling, Inc. stepped in and volunteered, on behalf of Crawford County, to host one of the two collection events.

The event is a free waste pesticide collection for Kansas farmers and ranchers, however, all non-pesticide items will be charged as well as items from distributors and dealers.

KDHE will provide a crew to come to Pittsburg and take the items for disposal.

“They (KDHE) are excited and the county got a lot of brownie points with KDHE,” Delp said.
