Louis C. Becker, passed away Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Rooks County Health Center, Plainville. He was 88 years of age.

Louis was born December 4, 1921 in rural Plainville, Kansas, the son of Bernhard and Pauline Marie (Adam) Becker.  He served our country during World War II in the United States Army.  After returning from the service, Louis owned and operated his own business as an excavator, and later worked in the oil field.   He was a member of the Plainville VFW, the American Legion, and the Knights of Columbus.  Louis enjoyed attending area auctions and collected many items found at auction.

 On October 15, 1946, Louis C. Becker was united in marriage to Katherine Schruben in Stockton.  They enjoyed 63 years of marriage together until her death on March 26, 2010.   Louis will be dearly missed by his family, including:  nine sons, John and wife Jane of Hays, Jim and wife Julie of Plainville, Charlie and wife Jan of Frontenac, Ron and wife Deb of Plainville, Gail and wife Dianne of Plainville, Bill and wife Michel of Las Vegas, Nevada, Joe and wife Linda of Hays, Jerry and wife Darcy of Hays, and Don and wife Kim of Payson, Arizona; four daughters, Mona and husband Dan Hoisington of Paradise, Betty and husband Rex Burgess of Plainville, Barbara and husband Pat Waggoner of Plainville, and Ann and husband Mark Kreller of Orlando, Florida; a brother Alfred and wife Eleanor of Plainville; a sister Hildagarde Dreiling of Plainville; forty grandchildren; fifty-six great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife; three sisters Bonnie Bollig, Laurene Rempe, and Neolah Wasinger; and two brothers Norman and infant Leland.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 28, 2010 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Galen Long officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

A parish vigil service will be held at 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at the church.  Immediately following the vigil, the family will greet friends at the Plainville Township Hall (senior center).

Visitation will be Wednesday from noon to7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
