The Girard High School softball team made an impressive run through their Class 4A regional tournament to earn a berth to the state tourney in Salina in 2008.

The Trojans knocked off Columbus for the regional crown and opened up the state tournament with a 5-2 win over Santa Fe Trail.

Girard earned a berth in the championship game, where they faced Andale/Garden Plain.

The Trojans fell behind 5-2 in the seventh after Andale scored three runs in the top of the inning, but rallied in the bottom of the inning only to fall short 5-4.
