I just wanted to thank The Morning Sun for covering the first piece of equipment for and the generous donors to the Everybody Plays Playground project. As indicated by Kim Vogel, Dir. of Parks & Recreation for the City of Pittsburg, this has been a long time coming, but the determination of the Committee and with the help of other donors, the complete project can become a "dream come true."
When the project was launched in 2007, we did have high hopes and those hopes are being realized, although a bit slower than we had anticipated. Those people who work with people with disabilities (teachers, recreation therapists and community recreation professionals, social workers, and other professionals) know how important playing is in the development of each child (socially, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually) and the swingset will help to meet the play needs of all children, as well as facilitating interaction between generations. Again, thank you for covering the project thus ensuring more people become aware of what is happening with it.
