  • Dorothy Marie Salsbury, 85 of Pittsburg died at 10:20 p.m. Thursday May 23, 2013 at the Medicalodge Nursing Home of Frontenac.

    Dorothy Marie Salsbury, 85 of Pittsburg died at 10:20 p.m. Thursday May 23, 2013 at the Medicalodge Nursing Home of Frontenac.

     

    She was born February 8, 1928 in Elroy, WI the daughter of Arthur and Bertha Kramer Johnson.  She married Merl Salsbury June 26, 1938 in Elroy, WI.  They moved to Fort Scott, KS in 1950 and lived there until 1965 when they with their 4 children moved to Pittsburg, where the opened the Daylight Dount Shop.  Dorothy was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Pittsburg.

     

    Survivors include her husband Merl of the home; a son Glenn Salsbury and wife Cheryl of Frontenac; 3 daughters Judy Mimms and husband Kelly of Clovis, NM, Patricia Richard of Pittsburg and Donna Salsbury of Kansas City, MO; 6 Grandchildren and 11 Great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Arthur Johnson and a grandson Michael Salsbury in 1998.

     

    Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday May 28th at the First United Methodist Church in Pittsburg with Reverend Jim Akins officiating.  Private family burial will be later that day at the Fort Scott National Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at the church.  Friends may call at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home after noon on Sunday and Monday to sign the register or leave a memorial donation.  Condolences can be sent to www.bathnaylor.com
