“This was a great test for us,” said PHS head coach John Seal. “Our singles players played tremondous.”

Born also opened with a pair of wins. She knocked off Fort Scott, 8-0 and Coffeyville, 8-2, before losing to Parsons, 8-2 and Independence, 8-1.

In doubles, Trimble and Gilmore lost to the team from Parsons, 8-0, to open the tournament but, came back to defeat Fort Scott, 8-6.

They lost their last two matches of the tournament — to Independence, 8-0 and Coffeyville, 8-1.
Highfield and Frasco had similar results, falling to Parsons, 8-4 and defeating Fort Scott, 8-5.

They turned around and lost to Independence, 8-0 and Coffeyville, 8-1.

“Our doubles teams, even though they each went 1-3, showed potential,” Seal said. “We do have three new people in those spots. We will get better and there is great potential.”
