Hazel V. Litchfield, 93, passed away at 6:05 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2009 at Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center.
She had been a resident of Golden Living Center since November 2007.
She was born in Branson, Missouri on July 25, 1915 to Elvy and Bertha Trout and moved to Pittsburg at the age of two. She attended Pittsburg schools.
For many years she worked in the restaurant industry and nursing facilities in Pittsburg and California.
In 1959, she married Smiley W. Litchfield in Riverside, California where they resided until returning to Pittsburg in the late 1960’s. They were longtime members of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Judy McQuain Pintar of Shell Knob, MO, Joyce McQuain Davis of Rockaway Beach, MO, and Janice McQuain Saunders of Summerton, SC; one brother, Harry Trout of Bulverde, TX, her daughter-in-law, Shirley Johnson Knightly and granddaughter, Susan Johnson Drenik who provided for her care. She is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Grover Johnson, Emery McQuain, and Smiley Litchfield; two sons, William L. Johnson and Charles R. Johnson; and a sister, Vera Atkins.
Graveside services will be 1:00 P.M. Monday (March 30) at the Garden of Memories cemetery with Rev. Fred Schmid officiating. Friends may gather at the funeral home at 12 noon on Monday and the funeral procession will leave for the cemetery at 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow the services. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Brenner Mortuary. The family suggests memorials to the Seventh Day Adventist Church in lieu of flowers.
