Late Friday night, several Fort Scott residents were injured in a rollover accident.


According to a police report, Corey Wilson, 23, Fort Scott, was driving westbound on 710th Avenue just before midnight Friday night when it left the road and entered the north ditch. Wilson overcorrected and the vehicle rolled, ejecting the driver and the front-seat passenger, Caleb Smith, 22, Fort Scott. Ryan Swink, 25, Fort Scott, and Levi Rodebush, 23, Franklin, also were in the car.


Upon the arrival of emergency responders, Wilson and Smith were flown to Freeman Hospital with serious injuries. Swink was taken to Freeman Hospital by Crawford County EMS with serious injuries, as well. Rodebush had only minor injuries and was not taken to any local hospital.


None of the occupants were wearing their seat belts.


Rollover Accident


Close to 10 p.m. Friday, a vehicle was driving westbound on 560th Avenue roughly 3/4 of a mile east of Free King's Highway when it left the road and entered the south ditch. The driver overcorrected and the car rolled at least two times.


The driver, John Smithson, 17, was wearing his seatbelt, but the passenger, Stephen Smithson, 16, both of Pittsburg, was not. Both suffered minor injuries and were taken to Via Christi Hospital by a family member.
