KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Pittsburg State women's basketball team completed its best regular season in school history 24-4 and on Monday, the Gorillas placed all five starters on the All-Conference first team, second team, third team or honorable mention teams.

Plus, their star freshman and their head coach picked up special postseason honors from the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association.

Freshman power forward Lizzy Jeronimus won MIAA Freshman of the Year and earned first team honors. Jeronimus finished eighth in the conference in scoring (14.2), ninth in rebounding (6.9) and ninth in assists (3.0), and she won top freshman player over deserving candidates Kate Lehman of Fort Hays State and Merissa Quick of Emporia State.

Head coach Lane Lord won MIAA Coach of the Year during a season in which Pitt State established school records for wins in a season, consecutive wins, consecutive wins to start a season and most points scored in a single game. The Gorillas, picked fourth in the preseason, finished second behind Washburn and led the MIAA until a late-season loss to Fort Hays State last Wednesday.

Senior guard and forward Brooke Conley made second team, senior post Larissa Richards third team, and junior guard Drew Roberts and sophomore guard Alexa Bordewick honorable mention. Richards also earned a spot on the five-player All-Defensive Team.

Pitt State led the MIAA with five All-MIAA selections. Central Missouri, Fort Hays State, Southwest Baptist and Washburn each had three selections.

Washburn senior guard Ebonie Williams won MIAA Player of the Year and was the only player who earned her spot on the first team unanimously. Williams — a transfer from Division I Seton Hall where she earned a spot on the Big East All-Freshman Team (2007-2008) — averages 15.3 points and 3.0 rebounds while hitting 50 percent of her 3s (59-118).

Fellow Lady Blue seniors Stevi Schultz and Cassie Lombardino earned second and third team honors, respectively.

Emporia State junior guard Jocelyn Cummings won MIAA Defensive Player of the Year. She's the first Hornet player to win that coveted award.
