  • Southeast High School passed a milestone at its commencement ceremony in the school’s gym Sunday afternoon.
The Class of 2011 was the 50th senior class to graduate from SHS, and the 52 students left a mark on the school, academically and athletically.
"There's no question that the Class of 2011 made a great impact on Southeast High School," said Principal Ben Proctor. "We wish you much success in the future."
Salutatorian Kaylyn Hite said that for some the ceremony was an occasion for joy.
"We're ready to shut this door and move," she said, adding that for others it might be bittersweet. However, "we have evolved into men and women who will go into the world and be leaders. We will be businessmen, lawyers, doctors and military leaders."
Hite also thanked the parents and teachers that had helped the students along the way and prepared them for real life.
