M&I Bank, Kansas City, has established a relief fund for victims of the Joplin tornado.

Donations to the fund can be made at any M&I Bank location, including the branches located at Fifth and Broadway and Fourth and Walnut in Pittsburg. Funds will be administered by the American Red Cross. In addition to collections, M&I Bank will donate $10,000 to the relief funds.

M&I Bank will also serve as a collection point for the donation of items for tornado victims such as new socks and underwear, nonperishable food items, and bottled water.

Besides the Kansas City region of M&I Bank setting up a fund and making a donation, the BMO Financial Group, based out of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, has pledged a corporate donation of $25,000 to the American Red Cross to support that agency’s efforts to provide relief to tornado victims in Missouri and Minnesota.

"Everyone at BMO was deeply saddened by the news, and our thoughts are with those who have lost family and friends," said Bill Downe, President and CEO, BMO Financial Group, in a statement. “We hope our donation will help affected residents as they start to rebuild.”

Donations to help those affected by the tornadoes can be made to support American Red Cross Disaster Relief at www.redcross.org; contributions may also be sent to local American Red Cross chapters or to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37243, Washington, DC 20013.
