Pittsburg Adult Education Center is currently enrolling students for morning and afternoon classes that will begin on April 6.
The center, located at 1700 N. Locust, provides basic literacy instruction, adult basic education, adult secondary education/ GED preparation and reading, math and writing instruction and review for those with a high school diploma who are preparing to enter post-secondary education or training.
Prospective students may enroll from 8 to 11 a.m. and noon to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Anyone needing additional information may call 235-3188 during these hours.Morning classes will meet from 8 to 11 a.m. Monday through Thursday from April 6 through May 28. Afternoon classes will meet from noon to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday from April 6 through May 28.
Annual graduation ceremony and reception will be held June 7 for all adult education students who have passed the GED Exam and received a Kansas State High School Diploma during this school year.
All GED graduates from the program this year are eligible to attend a free one-credit hour college orientation class at Fort Scott Community College, Pittsburg Campus. The class will begin June 9 and meet from 3 to 4:30 p.m. for five weeks. Only cost to students will be a $15 student fee.
The center is in the process of scheduling adult education classes for fiscal year 2010. Class dates will be announced as soon as they are set.
