Dear editor:

With November 2 just around the corner, it will be time to cast our votes. Regarding the Pittsburg sales tax question, it appears some people misunderstand the .25 percent levy. This is actually only 25 cents (a quarter) on $100.00.

We, the people of Pittsburg, would not be the only ones paying the levy but also everyone coming into town from outlying areas to partake in shopping, eating, sports activities, special events, staying at motels, etc. For example, all those who came from out-of-town to attend last Saturday’s PSU Homecoming football game — had this levy been in effect, they would have had to pay this tax also. Isn’t a sales tax of 25 cents on $100.00 a lot more reasonable than having to increase our property taxes?

Please give this matter serious consideration and make a special effort to vote.
