Two Girard residents suffered severe injuries in a two-vehicle accident around noon Sunday at the intersection of K-47 Highway and 190th Street east of Girard.



Meryl Garbin, 20, Girard, was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Blazer eastbound on K-7 Highway when Delores Johnson, 63, Galena, driving a 2004 Oldsmobile Silhouette, pulled out from a private driveway, striking the Blazer.

Two Girard residents suffered severe injuries in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of K-47 Highway and 190th Street around noon Sunday.

Meryl Garbin, 20, Girard, was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Blazer eastbound on K-7 Highway when Delores Johnson, 63, Galena, driving a 2004 Oldsmobile Silhouette, pulled out from a private driveway, striking the Blazer.

The Blazer rolled over and ejected Garbin, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. Garbin and one of his passengers, Laseana Hightower, 22, Girard, sustained severe injuries and were transported to Girard Medical Center by Crawford County EMS. A second passenger, Floyd Hayes, six months, was restrained in a car seat and uninjured in the crash. The Blazer was totalled.

Neither Delores Johnson, nor her passenger Edward Johnson, 66, Galena, sustained injuries. The damage estimate for the Silhouette was minor/functional damage.

The Crawford County Sheriff’s Department, Arma Fire Department and the Girard Police Department responded to the accident, which is still under investigation.
