  • Thomas E. “Tom” Davis, 74, of Girard, died at 9:30 p.m., Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Landmark Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.

  • Thomas E. “Tom” Davis, 74, of Girard, died at 9:30 p.m., Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Landmark Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
    He was born February 2, 1938 in Dayton, Ohio, a son of George T. and Frances A. (Denman) Davis.
    He attended Sacred Heart Grade School and Roosevelt High School, both in Dayton.
    He served in the US Army from October 11, 1961 until September 15, 1963.  He was stationed in Frieberg, Germany for 18 months.
    He worked most of his life as a printer.  In Dayton, he worked for Allied Egry Reg from December 31, 1957 until the plant closed on March 31, 1968.  He worked for Kurz Kasch Company in plastics molding from 1968 until 1973.  He worked for Horstman Printing before moving to Girard in September of 1974.  He worked for Forms Manufacturing Incorporated before retiring on March 8, 2000.    
    He married Wilma J. Carter at Pittsburg, Kansas and they divorced.  He had the love and companionship of Alma (Amy) Crow until her death in November of 1997.
    He was a member of the George C. Brown Post No. 26, American Legion of Girard.
    Survivors are a sister, Mary L. Mefford of Brookvile, Ohio and St. Petersburg, Florida; 12 nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Richard J., Charles R., and George L. Davis and his sister, Joan F. Felix.
    Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard with Fr. Roger Lumbre officiating.  Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery with military honors by the George C. Brown Post No. 26, American Legion of Girard.
    Memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army and these may be left at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 518 W St. John, Box 258, Girard, 66743.
    Friends may call after 2:00 p.m., Thursday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard.
