    ARMA — Arma American Legion Post No. 182 will host National Vice Commander Glenn A. Hickman, Grove City, Ohio, with a dinner at 5:45 p.m.

    ARMA — Arma American Legion Post No. 182 will host National Vice Commander Glenn A. Hickman, Grove City, Ohio, with a dinner at 5:45 p.m.
    Hickman will make a four-day tour of Kansas and visit 17 American Legion posts while in the state.
    A U.S. Air Force veteran, he is a life member of  Post  1 in Columbus, Ohio. He previously served as Ohio state commander and has been an active volunteer at the Chalmers P. Wylie VA Ambulatory Care Center in Columbus since 1985.
    Hickman enlisted in the Air Force in 1965 and served as a security policeman. He and his wife, Diane, have two children, Jason and Lisa, and four grandchildren.
    Legion members and their guests are invited to attend the dinner and hear the vice commander speak on Legion programs and issues concerning veterans and the nation.
    Stilwell lighting
    Annual Christmas lighting ceremony, open to the entire community, will be held at 7 p.m. in the lobby of the Hotel Stilwell.
    Theme this year will be an Italian Christmas. J.T. Knoll will weave a tale, and Pittsburg High School Girls Glee will perform under the direction of Susan Laushman.
    Joey Pogue of the Pittsburg State University communication department will read the names of all those memorialized or honored by the lights on the Stilwell tree.
    Refreshments will be served following the ceremony.
    Masonic Lodge
    Pittsburg Masonic Lodge No. 187 will have a monthly stated meeting at 7 p.m. at the Masonic Center, 3105 N. Joplin. Election of 2013 officers will be held.
    Dinner will be served for members and their guests at 6 p.m.
    Guitar Club
    First Pitt Guitar Club will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. Mondays at the First Christian Church.
    All guitar players may attend. Groups will be available for beginners, for chording, soloing and other topics, which will change each week. Those attending should bring their guitars.

    Girard TOPS
    GIRARD — TOPS Group #0975, Girard, meets Mondays at the Girard Presbyterian Church. Weigh-in begins at 4:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.,  with the meeting following.
    All interested persons may attend. Yearly membership is $28 and monthly dues are $5. Anyone needing additional information may call 620-724-8664, 620-719-0710 or 620-724-8784.
    Frontenac card games
    Card games will be played from 1 to 4 p.m. every Monday except holidays at the Frontenac Senior Citizens Building. Primary game is pinochle, but any card game is welcome.

    TOPS No. 599 (Take off Pounds Sensibly) meets every Monday at College Heights United Methodist Church.
    Private weigh-ins are from 5:30 to 6:20 p.m. Meetings start at 6:30 p.m. and are designed to provide motivation and support to help members reach their weight loss goals.
