  • Dear editor,
Tom Davis’ letter to the editor dated Sept. 8 requires a reply.
Bain Investments applied the methods and practices that all businesses, large or small, apply. Analyze the business data, and determine an efficient way to allocate resources for improvement.
(Only anecdotal evidence of Romney’s misbehavior exists.) The investors in Bain benefited, and employees also benefited. Few jobs were outsourced. However, President Obama circumvented the legal process in the takeover of General Motors and Chrysler by his direct order. Investors, many like Tom Davis, lost value in GM and Chrysler stock. Some union workers who were employed by GM suppliers — although they were union workers — lost their jobs, too. Selected, but not all, GM dealerships were ordered to shut down with all associated employment.
It may be true that business controls politics. The rivalry that has resulted in gridlock in Washington is not related to business. The Democratic-controlled Senate has failed to pass any budget for four years. An unconstitutional non-action.
“Massive army unaffordable.” Maybe. President Obama’a social programs are most unaffordable, and unsustainable.
The choice is becoming clear. We need to pursue a path that supports constitutional principles, moving America toward personal liberty, and happiness.
    Don Johnson
