Chrystle “Short” and Annabelle “Babe” Willey of Arma celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary on Tuesday. They were married September 11, 1940 in Mulberry, where they made their home and raised their family. Short worked for Midwest Pre-Coat and Paving from 1942 to 1972 where he was Labor Foreman during the construction of the Kansas City Airport and Worlds of Fun. He then served as General Superintendent for Bill’s Coal (mines in Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri) until his retirement in 1980. In 1984, they moved to Arma where Babe enjoyed cooking and quilting while Short worked in his garden. A noon party was held in their honor at the Arma Care Center with cake, balloons and lunch for the staff. Later that evening, they were joined by family and friends at Pichler’s Chicken Annie’s for good food, stories and laughter hosted by their son, Eli Willey and his partner, Nick Reid of San Diego, California.
