Pittsburg State senior Tera Swarslander belted out four RBIs to lead the Gorillas to a 10-1 pasting of Drury University in the first game of a non-conference doubleheader in Springfield, Mo. on Tuesday.

The Gorillas and Drury battled to a 4-4 tie in the second game at Meador Park Complex.
Swartslander was 5-for-5 with an RBI single in the second inning, a two-run single in the third inning and another RBI single in the seventh in the first game.
The Gorillas belted out 16 hits in the first game to rock Drury starting pitcher Brittany Davis.
Pitt State got on the board in the second inning after Tiffany Swanson led off with a single to left field and Jessica Jones followed up with another single to left.
Eileen Treff laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Swanson and Jones over a base then, two batters later, Swartslander singled to score Swanson to give the Gorillas a 1-0 lead.
Pitt State got one more run in the inning when Lindsay Birchfield singled to left field to score Jones. Swartslander was left stranded at second after Maria Bernal ended the inning by striking out.
Drury added a run in the bottom half of the second inning when Michelle Henrichs smacked an RBI double to left field off of Swanson to score Ashley Balazs to cut the Gorilla lead to 2-1.
But PSU answered in the top of the third when Lora Lockhart reached on an error by shortstop Mandy Burnett then stole second.
After Swanson walked and Jones singled to load the bases, Treff hit an RBI single to right field to score Lockhart.
Alysha Fivecoats got on first on a fielder’s choice when Swanson was thrown out a home but Swartslander made up for it with a two-run single scoring Treff and Jones putting the Gorillas up 5-1.
Bernal tacked on another run in the top of the sixth when she doubled home Birchfield to bring the Gorilla lead up to 6-1.
Pitt State put the game away in the top of the seventh when Haley Deaton and Swanson each led off with singles. Swanson later scored on a throwing error by Heinrichs. Swartslander singled to right field to plate Jones for her fourth RBI of the game and Birchfield hit a sacrifice fly to score Treff. Fivecoats scored to cap the inning on a single to center from Bernal.
Swanson pitched seven innings and scattered three hits while striking out four and walked two for Pitt State.
In the second game, Lockhart got RBIs in the fourth and sixth innings and Swartslander picked up another RBI in the eighth inning as the Gorillas batted Drury to a 4-4 draw.
Now, Pitt State will head to Shawnee for the first round of the MIAA Postseason Tournament, where they will face Washburn at noon on Thursday in the double-elimination tournament.
