Christian Writers Fellowship hosted its annual Called to Write Conference April 4 and 5 at Greenbush Educational Center with 41 attending.
Guest speakers were Jeff Edmondson, youth publishing manager of Barefoot Ministries for Nazarene Publishing House in Kansas City, and Ken Horn, editor of “Today’s Pentecostal Evangel” in Springfield, Mo. Each spoke during workshop sessions, held an editor question and answer panel and had individual 15-minute appointments with those attending the conference.
One highlight of the conference was an April 5 “Read-a-Round” with attendees reading articles, poems or stories they had written and receiving feedback from others. Many also purchased reference and writing books from the book table. Books written by the guest speakers and by CWF members were also available.
The conference concluded with first and second place awards to winners in four writing contests.
Christian Writers Fellowship meets from 9:30 a.m. to noon on the first Saturday of each month at the Girard Public Library, with some exceptions for holiday weekends and inclement weather.
Each month’s agenda includes a devotional and prayer, a lesson on the craft of writing and manuscript critiquing for members. Guests are welcome. Anyone needing additional information about the group may call 620-347-4739.
