  • Tommy J. Hardin, 65, of Haysville KS, formerly of Frontenac, died Monday, January 21, 2013 at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
    Mr. Hardin was born May 13, 1947, in Tacoma, WA to Zachery T. and Doris (Bezinque) Hardin.
    Tom earned his BS and BSE degrees from Pittsburg State University and taught school at Carl Junction MO. He worked at Spencer/Gulf Chemical Plant, the Parsons Ammunition Plant and retired from the Boeing Aircraft Company in Wichita.
    He was a member of the Methodist Church. He was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as following professional sports. He coached little league teams in Frontenac and golf teams in Carl Junction.
    Survivors include four sisters: Janet Hardin Grassi (Jim), Betty Hardin McDonald (Gary), Mary Ann Hardin Toeller and Shari Franchione Jones. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, along with three cousins who were well thought of by Tom: Lindeye Webb, Kathy Fox (Vern) and Gary Glad. Tom enjoyed a special bond that developed with his many friends at the VFW Post #6957 who he considered his family in Haysville. He was preceded in death by his parents, a stepfather, John B. Franchione and grandparents Arthur J. and Jennie (Bernardin) Bezinque and John T. and Mollie (Doolin) Hardin.
    In memory of his mother, Tom was an eye donor and according to his wishes he was cremated. Memorial services will be 2pm Friday, January 25, 2013 at the Friskel Funeral Home in Frontenac with Rev. Jim Sukraw officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date at the Highland Park Cemetery in Pittsburg. Condolences may be left at www.friskelfunerlahome.com. Memorials in his name may be made to the V.F.W.
