  • The Pittsburg Family YMCA elected new officers and directors for 2013 during a recent board meeting, according to Jack Bache, YMCA executive director.
Mark Werner was elected president. Other new officers are Judy Westhoff, vice president, Brooke Beasley, secretary, and Kip Bollinger, treasurer.
New board members elected are Stu Hite, Daron Hall, Tony Dellasega and Doug Kreighbaum. Directors currently serving on the board are Joe Hart, John Clark, Danna Bauer, Peggy Bennett, Sara Beezley, Eric Simmons, Drew Rhodes, John Mitchelson, Eric Clawson and Becky May.
Outgoing directors Jack Overman, Steve Stockard and Blake Benson were recognized for their volunteer service to the YMCA.
Bache noted that 10,300 individuals were members of the Pittsburg Family YMCA and more than 14,000 participants took part in a wide range of programs for youth and adults during 2012.
“Part of our mission statement is to improve the quality of life in each individual in our community, and we’re striving to do that on a daily basis,” he said.
No one is denied membership or program participation by the Pittsburg Family YMCA because of financial difficulties.
Last year the YMCA extended memberships to 3,956 persons in the community who could not afford a membership.
“This shows the true charitable aspect of our YMCA,” Bache said. “We are continually trying to reach out to those in need.”
Goals for the YMCA are promoting healthy lifestyles, developing leadership skills in youth, strengthening families, building international understanding and assisting in community development.
