Dear Editor
With the modern equipment that is available to a patrol officer, I, for one, do not think that it is necessary to engage in this kind of police chasing a suspect and endangering the lives of other motorists on the highway.
Every patrol car is equipped with a camera and a computer. The license plate number on the vehicle of the offender is all that is needed to continue the investigation in a much safer manner for all concerned. When the license number is obtained and all points bulletin is sent out to all city, county, and highway patrol officers in the immediate area, and even the FBI if it is thought they should be involved. Then visit the address of the owner of the vehicle and continue the investigation from there.
I think the days of the high speed chases that you see on the movie and television screens are passé and should be stopped for the safety of all concerned. A teenage girl and her mother lost their lives in this accident. Was it worth the awful price that was paid? I think not.
Thank you
