Anson A. “Fred” Boham, 79, of Frontenac, KS, died at 3:50 pm, Thursday, October 28, 2010, at his home.  He had been in ill health for 3 months.

Anson A. “Fred” Boham, 79, of Frontenac, KS, died at 3:50 pm, Thursday, October 28, 2010, at his home.  He had been in ill health for 3 months.

He was born March 16, 1931 in Rosendale, MO the son of Anson and Bessie Erskine Boham and had been a resident of Frontenac since 1954.  Fred graduated from Pittsburg High School with the class of 1949 and attended Kansas State Teachers College now known as Pittsburg State University for one year.

Mr. Boham was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Army and was honorably discharged as a corporal in 1952.

He married Joyce Menechetti on December 16, 1949 in Pittsburg, KS and she preceded him in death on July 26, 2000.

Mr. Boham was a Tool Engineer and general manager of A-1 Tool and Machine Inc in Pittsburg for 30 years, retiring in 1996.

He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac, KS, the Mirza Shrine  and Elks Club both in Pittsburg and the Frontenac American Legion Post.

Survivors include two daughters Debbie Low of Brookeland, Texas;  and Cindy Slayman of 109 N. Cherokee in Frontenac, KS;  two granddaughters Megan Slayman of Frontenac and Emily Redden of Pittsburg, KS;  one great-grandson Anson Redden.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Joyce.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac, with Father Robert Spencer, as celebrant.  Burial will be in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Frontenac.  Flag folding ceremonies will be by the Frontenac American Legion Post.  The organist will be Sharon Barone.  Pallbearers will be Earl Low, Israel Redden, Rick Marchetti, Jack Marchetti, John Brooks and J. B. Brooks.

The parish rosary will be recited at 9am, Monday at the Friskel Funeral Home, in Frontenac, KS and the family will receive their friends after the rosary service until 10am.  A memorial has been established to the Harry Hynes Hospice in care of the funeral home.  Arrangements are by the Friskel Funeral Home, Frontenac, KS
