Chemistry magic show
Pittsburg State University Chemistry Club students have recently re-ignited the Chemistry Magic Program. In honor of Earth Day, student members will present shows at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. at the north end of Meadowbrook Mall, between the Mall Deli and Bath & Body Works.
Theme will be “Chemistry Is Life,” and the shows will be free to the public. There will be free items for children.

Farmers Market
Area Farmers Market will open at 7:30 a.m. at Second and Broadway.

SHARE distribution
SHARE Colorado distribution for April will be from 10 a.m. to noon at the west side of the First Church of the Nazarene.
Those wishing to place orders for the May distribution may  do so at this time.
This non-profit grocery cooperative, which serves an eight-state region, is a program within the Catholic Charities Archdiocese of Denver. SHARE is an acronym for “Self-Help and Resource Exchange,” and is a community service providing members of each community access to quality foods at discount prices. A percentage of each food item purchased is utilized by each host site for humanitarian relief in the local community.

Plant sale
LAMAR, Mo. — Barton County Master Gardeners will have their annual plant sale from 8 a.m. until sold out at Moore Pavillion, east of the Lamar Bank and Trust.

Garland fundraiser
GARLAND — Garland Rural Fire Department will have its annual fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. inside the fire station.
Hamburgers or hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans, cake or pie and coffee or soft drinks will be served for a free-will donation. Entertainment will be provided by a group from Cherry Grove Church; a group composed of Ralph Carlson and Red Stradley of Fort Scott and Don and Mim Carlson, Leavenworth; Holly and Madeline Reed, Arcadia; and David Prickett, Deerfield.
Med-Flight helicopter will land around 11 a.m. There will be a dedication ceremony for the flag pole at 12:30 p.m. Drawings will be held at 3 p.m. for door prizes donated by area merchants and a $100 bill. Winners need not be present.

Scrabble Club
Scrabble Club NSA 613 will meet from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Pittsburg Public Library. Players of all skill levels may participate.

Phi Kappa Chapter
Phi Kappa Chapter, Phi Tau Omega sorority, will have initiation for new pledges at 6:30 p.m. at Celebrities in Girard. Members are asked to arrive by 6 p.m. to set up for the event.
This will be a formal event, and members should dress appropriately.

Thunder Show
Thunder Run cycle and car show will be held from 8 to noon Saturday at Foxtown City Limits. Entry fee will be $10, with trophies and door prizes.
Battle of the Bands will be from noon to midnight, including the Chad Emmert Band, “Hypeniks,” “Eargasm,” “Indragrass,” “Why Bother,” “Fracture” and “Coventry Sacrifice.” John Mott will present “Memories,” a tribute to Elvis, at 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. Tickets will be $21.

CHEROKEE — Allen Ross with Cooper’s Wish List and From the Ashes will perform at 8:30 p.m. at the Idle-A-While Bar and Grill, 201 S. Vine, Girard.
