Pittsburg JV tumbles
Pittsburg High JV football ended its season with a 6-1 record Monday night after losing 15-8 to the Blue Valley-Stilwell Tigers in Stilwell.

Blue Valley led 7-0 at halftime, then sophomore JV quarterback Spencer Bernhardt, who plays varsity wide receiver on Friday nights, scored the only Purple Dragon touchdown on a 4-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

Bernhardt hit junior receiver Dillon O’Dell on the two-point conversion and Pittsburg took a 8-7 lead into the final quarter, but Blue Valley scored the go-ahead and game-winning touchdown with 2:00 remaining in the game.

The Dragons were one victory removed from a second consecutive undefeated JV season when their final drive stalled at midfield. Last year’s squad went 6-0 and included 2010 varsity starters Marcus Striplin and Joe Wimmer.
