Richard E. McClure, 67, of Pittsburg, KS, passed away at 9:21 p.m. Sunday, August 28, 2011at his sister-in-law’s home in Carthage, MO.

Richard E. McClure, 67, of Pittsburg, KS, passed away at 9:21 p.m. Sunday, August 28, 2011at his sister-in-law’s home in Carthage, MO.

He was born August 22, 1944 at Pittsburg, KS, to Alvin D. and MaeBelle (Cox) McClure. Richard graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1962.  He attended Pittsburg State University graduating in 1967 with a B.A. in Journalism and Philosophy.
He then graduated in 1969 from Central Bible College in Springfield, MO, with a B.A. in Bible and Missions.  

Mr. McClure served in the United States Air Force as a Radio Operator from 1969 to 1973.

After the Air Force he worked in Fayetteville, AR, and moved back to Pittsburg in 1993.

He is survived by a daughter, Stacey Perry and her husband, Nick of Des Moines, IA; a son, Paul McClure of Ft. Collins, CO; and a granddaughter Lolli Perry of Des Moines, IA.

He was preceded in death by his father, and two brothers, Jerry and David McClure.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (Aug. 31) at Brenner Mortuary with Reverend Don Logan officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Park Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10:30 A.M. until service time, Wednesday at the Brenner Chapel.  Friends may call after 1 p.m., Tuesday, to sign the register book.  The family suggests memorials to be used according to their wishes. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 East 4th Street, Pittsburg, KS 66762.
