The Southeast Lancers, two years removed from a 3-30 season, won 29 matches (29-14 record) and made their first appearance in the Class 3A state volleyball tournament since 1999 by winning the substate hosted by Northeast High School. Senior Chaney Fox and juniors Bridget McGuire and Christine Bone earned All-CNC honors (McGuire first team, Bone second team and Fox honorable mention).

The Northeast Vikings (32-6) won their first league volleyball championship since 1988, in their inaugural season playing in the Three Rivers League. Seniors Katie Amershek, Britney Clark and Khristen Dwyer were among team leaders of an experienced Vikings squad.

Southeast and Northeast met in the semifinal round of substate and played three sets. Southeast won, 2-1 (25-21, 15-25, 25-20), and then defeated Northeast’s league foe Uniontown in the championship match, 2-1 (12-25, 26-24, 25-16).
