John Samuel Davis Robinson 77, of Girard, KS died 9 a.m. Friday December 26, 2008 at his home following a long illness.
John was born April 29, 1931 in Pittsburg, KS the son of Margaret Davis Garrison.  John lived in the area most of his life and graduated from Pittsburg High School.  He later attended Kansas State University and later Kansas Teacher’s College in Pittsburg, KS.  He entered the Army in 1952.  After the army he went to work for the Census Bureau and later retired in 1982.
John was active in the Pittsburg Masonic Lodge #187 serving as Master in 1980 and 1984; Girard Masonic Lodge #93 serving as Master in 1991; Montjois Commandry #29 KYCII of Kansas; All Saints Tabernacle #LVI HAAKTF of Olathe; Crispus Conclave RC of C: Scottish Rite of Fort Scott; Rob Morris OES #74; Order of White Shrine; Silver Trowel Council #27 RSM; Mirza Temple AAONMS; Rose Croix Shrine #16; Lifetime member of the American Rifle Association; Lifetime member of the American Legion and the Order of Odd Fellows #373.  John was of the Christian Faith.
Survivors include siblings Margaret Southard of Girard, KS, Shirley and Dr. William Hamilton of Verona, MO; 2 stepsisters Joan Hunt of Enterprise, OR and Grace Schenk of Fullerton, Ca; nieces and nephews Mike Southard and wife Tammie, Jeff Southard and Wife Cindy all of Girard, Debi Rankin and husband Phil of Pittsburg, Rick Hamilton of Baton Rouge, LA, Amy Wells and husband Joel of Liberty, MO, Christi Thomas and husband Dave of Aurora, MO, Jill Dlugopolski and husband Jason of Leavenworth, KS; one cousin Clarence Davis Jr. of Springdale, AR; 12 great nephews and 14 great nieces. 
He was preceded in death by his mother, stepfather Howard Garrison and aunt and uncle Elizabeth (Toots) and Elmer Citron.
Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Monday December 29, 2008 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS with Rev. Steve Cole officiating.  Burial will follow at the Highland Park Cemetery in Pittsburg, KS.  Visitation will be 6-7 p.m. Sunday December 28, 2008 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS.  Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Sunday.  In lieu of flowers the family ask expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorials to the Girard United Methodist Church Building Fund.  Friends may drop off or mail memorials to Bath-Naylor Funeral Home 522 S.
