    Alzheimer’s Caregivers

    A breakfast club for Alzheimer’s caregivers will meet at 9 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church.

    Alzheimer’s Caregivers
    A breakfast club for Alzheimer’s caregivers will meet at 9 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church.
    The club offers an opportunity for caregivers to talk with those who share similar issues while having a free breakfast. Anyone may attend who serves as a caregiver to an individual with Alzheimer’s or a similar dementia.
    Anyone needing additional information may call the Alzheimer’s Association Southeast Kansas office in Parsons at 620-421-6550, ext. 1794.
    Senior exercise
    A senior exercise class will be held at 8:30 a.m. at the Homer Cole Community Center, 3003 N. Joplin. There is no fee. This class is sponsored by the Girard Medical Center and offers simple movements and stretching to help with upper and lower body strength, cardiovascular and overall health.     Cherokee Seniors
    CHEROKEE — Cherokee Senior Citizens will meet at 11:30 a.m. at the Cherokee Community Building.
    A lunch featuring turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy will be served at noon. All those attending should bring a side dish or dessert. Anyone over 50 may attend.
    Kiwanis Club
    Pittsburg Kiwanis Club will meet at noon in dePaul Hall, Via Christi Hospital. Program will be presented by Kim Vogel, director of the Pittsburg Parks and Recreation Department.
    Rocky Smith will be cashier. Rick Hudson will serve as greeter and give the invocation.
    Community Corrections Advisory Board
    The 11th Judicial District Community Corrections Advisory Board will meet at noon at the Pittsburg Judicial Center, 602 N. Locust.
    Local 14, District 12, United Mine Workers of America, will meet at 1 p.m. at the Homer Cole Community Center. The meeting will be open to all UMWA members.
    Phi Kappa Chapter
    Phi Kappa Chapter, Phi Tau Omega sorority, will have its annual pledge tea and welcome ceremony at 7 p.m. at Carrington Place.
    Any member unable to attend should contact an officer.
    Author reception
    Pittsburg Public Library will host an open house and reception for local authors from 6 to 8 p.m. in the PPL meeting room.
    Local authors participating will include Richard Cooper, Kathy DeGrave, Linda Grotheer, Gerry Kramer, Marcel Normand, Chad Pio, Sally Short and Cobb Young.
    The public is welcome to meet local authors and ask questions about their work. Some authors will have copies of their books for sale and signing. Refreshments will be served.

    TOPS KS 0884 meets every Thursday at Knights of Columbus Towers, 700 N. Pine.
    Weigh-in will begin at 9 a.m., with the business session following at 9:30 a.m.

    Frontenac bingo
    Frontenac American Legion Post 43 will sponsor bingo from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Frontenac Senior Citizens Center. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
    USD 248 Board
    GIRARD — Girard USD 248 Board of Education will meet for a social dinner at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Tuesday at the SSS Steakhouse, 218 S. Summit, Girard. No business will be conducted.
    Business session for a special board meeting will start at 7 p.m. at the board office for the purpose of non-elected personnel on those respective dates.
