Esther Caroline Barbara Jagels, 86, of Hepler, Kansas died at 9:55 P.M., Monday, July 28, 2008, in the Girard Medical Center in Girard, Kansas.

Esther Caroline Barbara Jagels, 86, of Hepler, Kansas died at 9:55 P.M., Monday, July 28, 2008, in the Girard Medical Center in Girard, Kansas.
She was born July 28, 1922 at rural Walnut, Kansas, a daughter of John and Malwine (Fleischer) Engel.  She attended the Immanuel Lutheran School at rural Hepler.
She married Paul Jagels on June 8, 1947 in the Immanuel Lutheran Church at rural Hepler.  He preceded her in death on April 5, 2003.
They were farmers at rural Hepler and she was a housewife, mother, and caregiver to her grandchildren.  She and Paul received the Century Farm Award from Kansas Farm Bureau in 2002 and they were members of the National Farmers Organization.
She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church at rural Hepler, an active member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, the Tuesday Bible Study and the Gem Seekers Study Club.
Survivors are daughters Gloria Roettger and Bill of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Lorene Hoffman and Mark of Pittsburg, Kansas; sons Norman Jagels and Linda of Richardson, Texas and Philip Jagels and Sherry of Hepler; grandchildren Jeremy Jagels and Crystal, Josh Jagels and Laura, Jessica
(Jagels) Crager and Nathan, Justin Jagels, Kara Jagels, and Fiancé’ Dave O’Rell, Scott Jagels, Jennifer Roettger, Andrea Roettger, Seth Hoffman, and Amanda Hoffman; great-grandchildren Spencer and Caroline Jagels and Kendall Crager.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Krause, and an infant sister.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M., Friday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church at rural Hepler with Pastor John Stubenrouch officiating.  Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery at rural Hepler.  The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 P.M., Thursday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard where friends may call after 1:00 P. M., Thursday.
