The Precious Moments Supporting Foundation will host two events for the Central Region Little League Girls Softball Association which has come to Carthage for the region's playoffs during this week.

Girls ages 11-12 from Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, North Dakota and South Dakota, Nebraska, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kansas, Michigan, Kentucky and Missouri are currently in town for a shot at  advancing to the Girls' Softball Little League World Series.

"Carthage is a part of our district, and we're starting to utilize all of our district instead of just one (area)," said Mike Greninger, administer with Missouri District 2. "The district goes from North of Rich Hill over to West Plains. There are four districts in the state of Missouri."

On July 30, The Joplin Sports Authority and The Precious Moments Supporting Foundation will host an evening of fun and ice cream with outdoor games and Karaoke for the girls, their families and sports officials.

Dynamic Signs, Hillbilly Pump, The Alliance of Southwest Missouri, the Carthage 4-H Club and the Carthage fire department are helping to provide a wholesome and safe event for over 180 girls and their families.

"We have a caring community who supports each other and our children.  We are so blessed to live and work in Carthage" said Donna Bura, Marketing Manager for the Precious Moments Supporting Foundation.

On July 31st, the girls will make American themed crafts to take with them to the World Series to represent the United States and will be provided with lunch and a fun hour of Bingo.

All the food and game prizes for the luncheon were donated by the community along with Schrieber Foods, Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Lucky J Restaurant and Arena, T's Corner, Sirloin Stockade, Price Cutter, Banta Foods, Superior Linens (for donating towels for a craft project) and Precious Moments Inc.
