Marlene Coates, 75, of Mulberry, joined our heavenly Father on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at her home, surrounded by her children and many loved ones.

Marlene Coates, 75, of Mulberry, joined our heavenly Father on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at her home, surrounded by her children and many loved ones.

Marlene was born June 22, 1936 at Mindenmines, Missouri the daughter of Ora Orville and Mary Louella Maxwell Hilton. She was a homemaker and worked for Sears as a repair person in Kansas City and retired as an employee of Northeast Unified School District #246 at Arma. She was raised in Mindenmines, Missouri and attended Mindenmines Schools. Marlene married Junior Loren Coates on June 14, 1952 at Bentonville, Arkansas. Mr. Coates preceded her in death December 8, 2010. She was a member of Mulberry United Presbyterian Church. Survivors include her four children, April Marlene Bridges and her husband Steven of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Beverly June Choate and her husband Billie of the home, Kim Loren Coates and his wife Terri of Arma, and Lorna jean King and her husband Charlie of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, many nieces and nephews including Loren and Nila Coates of Mulberry, eleven grandchildren, and twenty great grandchildren, and a sister, Margie Edwards of Higginsville, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her husband, Junior, and a son, Jackie Coates.

According to her wishes Mrs. Coates has been cremated. A Celebration of Life service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2011 at the Mulberry United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Bob Cuthbertson officiating. Burial of the cremains will follow at the Rosebank Cemetary at Mulberry. The family suggests memorials to the Harry Hynes Hospice or the Mulberry United Presbyterian Church. Donations may be sent to or left at the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E.
