‘What’s the Matter with Kansas?’

Following the video, Topeka attorney Steve Boyda will give a brief commentary, then introduce Joan Wagnon, Topeka, new Kansas state Democratic Party chairman.

Osage Church of the Brethren
McCUNE — The Farnum Family will present their ministry and music during worship services at 10:30 a.m. at the Osage Church of the Brethren.

From the Missouri Ozarks, the Farnum Family performs bluegrass, folk, Irish and western music.

Chicopee feed
CHICOPEE — Barbecued pulled pork sandwiches, slaw, chips, dessert and beverage will be served from 11 a.m. until sold out at the Chicopee Community Center.

Cost will be $6 for adults and $3 for children aged 4 to 12.

Those under 4 will eat free. Carry-outs will be available.

Bike for MS
Bike the US for MS group of 20 cyclists will be arriving in Pittsburg around 2 p.m.  The group began their 3,785-mile ride June 1 in Yorktown, Va., and are close to the halfway mark in their trip, which is scheduled to conclude Aug. 1 in San Francisco.

Riders are raising funds to fight multiple sclerosis, as well as raising awareness of this progressive neurological disease which currently has no cure.

Anyone interested in welcoming and meeting the riders may attend a reception for the riders as they arrive in town at Wheat State Pizza. After spending the night at Pittsburg High School, the group will continue its ride Monday, with their next stop in Chanute.

Legion dance
Pittsburg American Legion Post 64 will host a dance for members and guests from 3 to 6 p.m. at the post home, 2815 N. Joplin.

Music will be provided by “DGM Trio.” Admission will be $4.50 per person.

Italian Heritage Society
Italian Heritage Society will have a cookout at 4 p.m. at Shelter No. 3, Lincoln Park. The group will eat at 5 p.m., with the club providing all the food.
